Amazon subsequently told sellers to add contains-synthetic-performer to file metadata before uploading product images, A+ content, or videos that contain realistic AI-generated people. When Amazon reads the keyword, it can display the corresponding AI disclosure on the product detail page.

The tag applies to realistic people generated entirely by AI. The following content generally does not need it: Fictional characters from films, television, or video games Real photos retouched with AI, with replaced backgrounds or adjusted appearance Non-photorealistic AI images such as illustrations and cartoons

How can I confirm the tag was written successfully?

The tool reads every file back after writing it. You can also use the checker below to inspect tags in an image or video again. Use this checker for videos: Windows Explorer does not show XMP in MP4/MOV files, but that is the metadata Amazon reads.

Each format uses a different metadata channel: JPG: XMP dc:subject and IPTC Keywords PNG: XMP dc:subject MP4/MOV: XMP dc:subject in a video uuid box

No. The tool only changes or appends metadata. It does not re-encode images or videos or alter their pixels. Every file is read back automatically and is only marked Completed after the keyword is confirmed.

Undisclosed media may be removed by the platform and, if it is a main image, could affect how the product is displayed. For legal liability or platform penalties, refer to Amazon’s latest notice and applicable local law.
